What Your Period Says About You

“Is this normal?”

“What does this mean?”

“… Should I see a doctor?”

Sound familiar?

When it comes to menstrual health, there are a lot of commonly asked questions- and we mean a lot.

And while having questions is completely fine, what isn’t fine is how few answers there are available for women.

And that is something we really disagree with.

As many of you will know, all of us at Womooi believe that periods should be something to look forward to.

Although we cannot change what Mother Nature offers every month, we can at least try to take away some of the impracticalities and give you something to make those days more enjoyable.

And today, we’re giving you the answers you deserve.

To find out ‘What Your Period Says About You’ (AKA- what’s ‘normal’) read on!

  • The more, the merrier?

As with most things, every woman’s period is unique.

On average, most women will lose between 5 to 12 teaspoons of blood during your period.

(We really are amazing, aren’t we?)

Some women might suffer heavier periods than others, but if the heaviness of your period starts affecting your life, or if your period suddenly becomes significantly lighter or heavier, then it’s time to see a doctor.

  • Is the colour of my period normal?

Yes. Probably.

… It’s complicated, but we’ll do our best to explain.

When your period is at its heaviest (normally in the first 2 days), you should expect a red colour, whereas lighter days it may appear pink, brown or black.

Just like with flow, what you really need to keep an eye out for is any sudden changes from your usual experience as this could be a sign of an underlying health condition.

  • My period is irregular. Is this OK?

Typically, we expect periods to last between 2 and 7 days (usually about 5 days), but the length of your period and menstrual cycle really varies from woman to woman.

Experts put the average menstrual cycle at 28 days, but anywhere from 21 to 40 days is also fine.

The most important thing is always that:

  1. Your period does not negatively impact your life, and
  2. There are no sudden changes in your period.

If either of the above is true, then it is definitely worth seeking medical advice!

Afterall, you deserve to enjoy yourself no matter what time of the month it is.

At Womooi, our goal is always to help you have your best period.

We also think that you deserve a treat. That’s why we work hard every month to source the best surprise gifts to put in our subscription boxes.

WARNING: We only allow high-quality brands and full packaging sizes.
